Notes You May Have Missed

As this is the beginning of a new year, I would like to briefly review a number of the Notes I have written in the past and that you may have missed. They may be found in the NewsNote Library or by link from here if you are looking at the web site.

• “ADD and the New Driver” has information relevant to many teens and their parents.
• “Homework and ADD – Parents’ Alert” focuses on an area that is often a problem and should not be ignored. There are some case reports and suggestions.
• “Family Counseling and ADD” points out that ADD is a family problem and that more than medication may be necessary. This works well with “The ADD Family” which discusses interactions within the family.
• “Managing Adult ADD” outlines what I think needs to be considered when treating an adult with ADD.

There are 3 articles for college bound ADD students. They have been found to be quite useful, and of particular help after a student has been accepted to a specific college:

• “Getting Ready For College: Special Accommodations”
• “Be Your Own Advocate At College”
• “Pointers fore Handing Medication At College”

Medication is discussed in many notes. Some are seasonal, relating to summer vacations and return to school in September. There are discussions of specific medications such as Methylphenidate which have their own Notes. There are too many to list here, but I am sure you can trace them down with a click or two. Two I think of importance are:

• “When Kids Refuse Medication” which has thoughts for parents and therapists.
• “Medicate On Holidays And Weekends” from December 2004 presents a clear opinion.
